Quando comecei a faz minhas festinhas de pré-adolescente lá pelo final dos anos 70, me reunia com um grupinho de amigos no playground e cada um levava seus discos preferidos, uma parte do aparelho de som de sua casa, algum salgado, comprávamos refrigerantes, plugávamos tudo e nos divertíamos à valer. Era bom demais! Nossa trilha tinha muito de Marvin Gaye, Dianna Ross, Lionel Ritchie, Barry White, Aretha Franklin, Lou Reed, Rolling Stones, ... , a maioria negros e não poderia deixar de ter - lógico! Michael Jackson e os Jackson's Five.
A partir daí, Michael Jackson começou a fazer parte de minha trilha sonora; foram sucessos em cima de sucessos e sempre se tinha a idéia de que ele havia chegado ao seu máximo, o que caía por terra ao ser lançado seu próximo trabalho, o que não se perpetuou até o final de sua carreira.
No início dos anos 80 ele lançou "Thriller", um disco que trazia uma nova forma de pop, de dança, de costumes. Revolucionou o mundo da música com vídeo clips e batidas dançantes e baladas românticas que embalaram muitas noites de primeiro beijo e esperas ao telefone. Segui ouvindo e dançando muito suas músicas além, é claro, de assistir maravilhado seus clips e admirar sua obra como um todo.
Ao saber da notícia de sua morte, tive um choque do qual ainda não me refiz, afinal, a obra de Michael Jackson ainda fará parte de minha trilha sonora por muito tempo; marcou épocas que não voltam mais.
